The potential for scientific and humanistic thinking to appear to run in different directions has long been a feature of human intellectual development. At a time of great environmental and economic challenges, we are seeing this like never before.

The public does need to understand scientific ideas and those in STEM fields routinely lament the various obstacles in the way of building understanding. That's why The Logic of Science website is worth a look. The cartoon below is from the site.
