Brian-Lee Crowley, managing director of the MacDonald-Laurier Institute, gave a speech at Resource Works on the concept of social license
Mr. Crowley pointed out that the wealth of natural resources could only be unlocked for the benefit of the population through rule of law. The popular concept of social license, unfortunately, fails to entail rule of law and democratic principles and is conveniently abused by groups opposed to resources development.
